“Created in the summer of 2004 as a collaboration of Youth Sounds and Project YES, BUMP is a music performance and production program for East Bay youth and young adults. With the help of industry professionals and quality community instructors, youth learn to compose, produce and record digital music, and stage live performances. BUMP Records, the project’s youth-run label, gives participants hands-on experience in producing, packaging, and promoting records. BUMP is grounded in youth development through promoting social consciousness, community leadership, media literacy, and technical skills.
“Where I’m At” was written, recorded, and produced over the courseof 8 weeks by 12 youth artists from Oakland and Berkeley who were recruited for BUMP’s first ever summer session.” (from the bump press release…written by phatrick huangman?)
