I hope that people, if not actively taking part in a rally/the boycott today, at least take some time to think about the significance of the situation we are in.
All too often I make the realization that all too many friends are apathetic. It’s no secret that the ones i care for tire of my incessant proselytizing and unwarranted high-mindedness when it comes to political issues. I can understand the frustration when it comes to an issue like moneytary policy or public transportation, but regarding something like immigration? I cant comprehend an apathetic stance.
The policies being championed by even ‘centrist’ politicians convey a frightening amount of either ignorance or a criminal lack of compassion.
The fact of the matter is that many so-called “illegal” immigrants (an utterly ridiculous notion) have been put in situations that essentially force a relocation…these situations, of course, are directly connected to the wealth and quality of life we experience in the United States. Acceptance of the fact is the first step to recognizing that we need to rethink the system.
