crap i cant believe i did it. carried all my shit. successfully made it to berkeley.
anyway, i wrote this at the airport:
it is now 1:07 p.m. and i am here at the glorious glorious piece of human achievement known as the Bob Hope (Burbank) Airport. the many wonders of this place never cease to amaze me, but alas, i am bored, so i figured i oughta rant.
they are playing dead or alive’s classic “you spin me round.” which i really enjoy, i just dont know about the music choice for an airport terminal. oh well, im probably just jealous because i cant mix it (the intro is too crazy and i always lose the time on it. c’est la vie) i just read what i wrote and my prose is really annoying. youd think that for all the writing i do, it might be just a bit better.
but anyone who read my last hb article would not be surprised. i have to find something i am excited about, something that i can get geeky wit, like my es paper, i really enjoyed that crap.
coherence, au revoir.
recap of the break:
friday: work, then airport with gloria (my heart flutters at her name…too bad i am not a straight hapa hairstylist, eh?…never know what will happen this summer..living amongst those types), and julie’s roommate, all in a car piloted by the superman tadao. arrived at home, home home home. the new couch is comfy. and my turntables were waiting. began my training and finished my first round routine.
saturday: nana (grandma) and tehya, my cousin arrived after a day of house cleaning.
wow, i am sorry.
i have been trying to organize this battle thing, and i think all the contestants in order.
prtb..dangerous situation
hhitp…been emailing bboys, but not DJs yet. still gotta contact 5th element. i am slacking. but i was outta commission for a few days.
last night (friday night) was kinda lame, as people who always talk shit about me continued to do so. i just know it.
i was also a bit annoyed considering the annoyance sent my way because i could not conform to other people’s plans. sorry folks, but my family comes first, and when i was sitting in traffic, my grandma was feeling like shit and throwing up, so fucking forgive my ass if i wasnt exactly in the mood to go to hollywood with you. funny how people are so eager to talk and get pissed when they dont know the whole situation.
anyway, after getting home we went to dinner and picked soup up for nana and all was ok.
super sexy hot girl adrianne decided to have an adventure and drive us to hollywood and meet up with the others, we were warned to turn around, but adrianne had the wherewithal to turn around not once, but twice, putting us back away from valencia.
too bad the club was 21 and over, so it was all a fool’s errand anyway.
so the others decided that they wanted to see “eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” (runner up for pretentious title) and adrianne decided that she would be her usual benevolent self and go along. we saw it and it was what i expected, jim carrey was annoying, etc etc. i really respect michel gondry, but i think that the techniques used are really mored suited to short formats. it becomes just another form of “look at me” nonsense. and the whole “out of order storytelling as the movie’s main artistic achievement” fad is kinda tiring. there is something to be said for keeping surprises within a more traditional framework (makes them work harder to be fresh).
adrianne: it was not annie hall
me: yes it was
adrianne: yeah, it was
i guess every guy/girl movie wants to be annie hall. i just remembered that professor gold showed us the family dinner scene. god that was brilliant. and no cgi!
chris walken killed it in that movie as well.
what i did like about eternal sunshine: eh
i dunno, some of the subtleties. the books disappearing were fun to watch. david cross was funny. (birdhouse!) and the scene walking outta the bookstore into the house was neato. i also liked how their was not much suspense, the clues allowed for one to figure it out really early, which was interesting in that it mirrored experiences in the movie.
but again, i would not see it again. a bit heavyhanded with the filming technique. michel, save it for the videos. (oh, and spike and michel need to stop inbreeding…at least sophia risked complete boringness)
in other news, i got new shoes.
no new glasses yet, still gotta get back and measure my pupillary distance.
i am also still trying to decide whether or not to battle.
i want to win, but i dunno if i am in the mental state to come through (plus id need to buy slipmats)
it is not fair at all if i base my decision on who is entering, that would straight up be unethical, so i am not researching any of the contestants. (first routine: monifah juggle, mf doom scratch)
i just wish rygar was battling.
in yet other news:
ben and i are starting a label. he is holding down the hiphop side, and i am totally feeling that. and he agreed to let me pursue my goal of having a label that has hard shit, but soft shit too that is cool.
or “stones throw jr.”…but i also added that some tech stuff is cool….so like a more hiphop eastern developments, or a more organic counterflow or chocolate industries. yeah.
tgif gets the honor of being our first release. they have their ish together (more than what can be said for my group..haha. you suck jerome and pat…i kid)
i made three beats over break and recorded new source material, so i have some new fuel. safe.
my new beats are just for me though, i cant make beats that inspire mc’s it is not a gift of mine. but yo, my rhymes be tight, i just need to change my voice and itll be my turn on the m-i-c.
now they are playing “jump”….synths are cool, so is van halen.
my family is crazy, bobby, watch your back, they might kill you for your place.
final note: adrianne listens to hot music.
capski is my DJ name, spec is for production, syme is tagging (figure out the reference!)
im in love with stuff.
