office left this link to an entry in the Clash d’Urbaine blog. basically summing up my whining, they do it with some context all up in that. Then i notice that they have a link (with dis) to Dior’s summer collection…a fucking rasta inspired line (golf/yuppy rasta)…what is this? When i first saw it in stores (accompanied with the photo-ads) I did not know what the hell to think. chanel’s cassette/vinyl jewelry was tacky…but dior is next level wack(y) on this. hawaii, though, with it’s obsession with rasta was a prime market for that. surely just about of all the girlfriends of the young hotel workers and soon-to-be bank managers (strizaight outta UH…repping mililani high school) who still race civics or integras all received not only rasta colored wristbands, but matching hats and bags. (or at least will be getting knock-offs from the swap meet for themselves…independent!) i have not seen anyone here in ca sporting any of it yet, but i am sure if i spent some time in the city, that would change.
if you ever wanna do some interesting people peeping, just sit around the uppity part of ala moana. you’ll see uncomfortable lower income locals feeling really outta place and hurt as the suited “greeters” sneer at them, local girls who wannabe mainland girls, hookers/strippers, drug dealers and their customers (nothing like pearlridge for the chronics, though), loaded japanese/chinese/korean tourists, white (now burnt red) chicks, ironic hipsters, hipsters, salon workers (who i rolled with this summer), club kids, and sleazy suburban motherfucker businessmen buying goods for their motherfucking sleazy ass whores…FUCK YOU ADULTERERS.
back to the shoes…i’ll steal a line from the office-” Be selective, be protective. Now, extend your wardrobe and get a pair of regular shoes you big kid!”
now, back to reading the elephant vanishes…
oh…can some PLEASE release an acapella (just the chorus works too) of Oye mi canto??? nina sky till i die.
