Went to the Razorlight/Futureheads show at Popscene on Friday. Top of the Pops was there. It was nice to be with the friends, but jesus: The people there were pretty damn near vomit inducing. I have no tolerance and an increasing hatred for oldsters, youngsters, and scenesters. Nothing there was close to best (except the mother/daughter ogre team) and everyone was celeb-ing and shit (”oh my god! top of the pops is here”). Razorlight sounded like shit (except one song) and i was turned off as soon as they did a little diddy that sounded too much like Count Five’s “Psychotic Reaction.” The singer had iggy pop disease and was trying to hard to NOT be the Julian Casablancas that the label signed him to be. Poor bloke. Their drummer looked frighteningly similar to Dirk Nowitzky (look ma! a basketball reference!) and the guitarist seemed bored as hell. (Did I mention that Top of the Pops was filming them?) The Futureheads were OK, nothing mindblowing, but better than the garbage smoothie that preceded them. I am getting all jaded and shit. Live performances don’t really get me anymore. P.S. To the sound people at Popscene: You suck. Learn how to EQ.
So, in conclusion: It was a fun night for friends, bad night for music.
so the berkeley football team won something? i don’t really understand team spirit or getting excited or feeling some sense of accomplishment when “your team” wins. the last team i was really excited about was the Colorado Avalanche in 1996. I stayed up late for that stuff. Sakic, Forsberg, Roy, Ozolinsh..That team was sick. Uwe Krupp stand the hell up. Red Wings/Avs rivalry…yes.
funny high school shit keeps biting me in the ass: Pat talking about movies like Return of the the Titans and Outcast. Trying really hard to smash peanut butter M&Ms and eating mad Sour Licorice Bites took up a lot of time too.
I am on a forced Nike-free period in my life. Except for maybe some Sabakus or Alohas…I am sure feeling some Visvim (so sick!)and those MJ vans though.
Acronym doin all kinds of crazy.
and finally, real life: Malnutrition Doubles in Iraq.
