Today, a day like any other, save for the annoying amount of disappointments and unfortunate frequency of jerkass encounters. Should I mention then that: 1. This is just me (Capski) complaining and that i do not reflect the other members of the benevolent LU society. In fact, were the others to post here, the world would be a happier place. But they don’t. So, like MC Luscious, boom I got your blog.

Fortunately, I already wrote a 7 page rant on the shit of 05. Like a real lame college student though, somehow it placed it all within a historical colonial framework. Indeed, disorganized rants on A Bathing Ape and the Ying Yang Twins presented in relation to a disrespected paradigm does not make for fun reading. (Clarification: It wasnt some “smart shit.” It was all “fuck this, fuck that” and “yo this shit was hella wack ’cause:” In any case, the rambling one allowed for me to see what really pissed me off this year.

So to clear the negativity out before New Year’s Eve creeps up without notification, the shit I (capski) hated on this year, 2005:

I still think “My Humps” has no redeeming qualities.

Southern California weird emo fashionista suburban myspace whitewash Asian kids coming frighteningly close to being the number one most annoying group for me. (they got a boost from my self-loathing or something, but that they are almost at white people level is impressive. YO! I got jumped by white supremacist neo-nazi dudes when I was a kid…and these cats are stillllll annoying the shit outta me. nonsequiter whatever.)

the streetwear blog explosion of 2005. We really actually dont need any, but if there are going to be them, we really only need two. A 24 news network type that does no filtering, and one that maintains a holier than thou tone all the time. I think you know which two basically fit those roles right now. Please, in 2006 let only the strong survive.

All the formula ltd ed. t-shirt companies. if your shit is wack, your shit is wack, even if you made 17 and 9 are available for sale. And yes, shit is STILL wack if you party with dudes that make the cool stuff.
(Ohio Players is on the ole itunes right now, vitriol is not flowing, yeah!)

Pharrell fan boys. Yoooooo, your crushes have gone toooo far. You are not a star trak rider. Go try and make beats or some shit instead of trying to look like dude. How shallow are the pools of creativity in the kids that are on the jock? He is dope for making beats, not dressing in a uniform. Appreciate something real. (bathing ape shit gets same. i slice my leg every time i look longingly at a bape garment)

(related to above) the emo/screamo (?)/poppunk music of today? I am pretty good at/have a critical ear with a wide variety of music and can generally appreciate what different people bring to genres, but YO! shitisallthesame! samesamesamesame! sesame same!
<hl>

But on the real: The real shit of the year, and basically every year since before 1492 is exploitation and mistreatment people because of race. Race and gender. Race and gender and religion. Race and gender and sexuality and class and disability and age and…(where my es101 riders at: I SEE YOU!)

This year gave us all an all too perfectly painful example of what can happen when selfish, greedy, and heartless people are in control. The hurricane should have made obvious what is at work in this country and really around the world. The acuteness of the violence suffered over the last few years can’t be ignored. Take off the beer goggles and look around. ESPECIALLY to the people my age. Take stock of what is going on. Fuck the cliche: educate your own ass and take responsibility. Look at how ineffectual and brainless we really are. Jesus, im hooked on mass produced shoes! Somehow we gotta unthink something and throw it in reverse, cause the devils are in 5th right now.

Easy first step for some idiots i encounter on the reg: Y’ALL STFU AND KEEP THE N WORD OUT YO DAMN MOUTH

Next post is about the love, i promise.

</hl>
